Most illness starts long before the hospital.

Health Custodians Club trains health students to close the gap between how people live every day and what they know about it.

We make health knowledge simple enough to use.

Health Custodians Club trains students from across the health sciences in communication, leadership, languages and research; skills rarely found in our curriculum. Members use them to study the health problems around them and to explain health plainly, in the languages people speak, in schools, markets and rural communities.

Beyond the curriculum

A health degree teaches the science, but rarely teaches you how to lead a team, design a small study, or explain a diagnosis in Twi. That is where we come in.

  • Communication

Explaining diagnoses, risks and prevention in language people actually use.

  • Leadership

Running teams, chairing meetings and taking responsibility well.

  • Local languages

Serving patients in Twi, Ga, Ewe, Dagbani and the languages they speak.

  • Research methods

Framing a question, gathering evidence, drawing honest conclusions.

  • Disease studies

Deeper reading on the conditions members meet in community work.

  • Mentorship

Guidance from senior members and visiting health professionals.

We work in settings where health knowledge is needed most.

Members work in the places where day-to-day life shapes health: schools before habits set in, marketplaces where traders breathe open-air pollution, and rural communities where a clinic is hours away. Through regional representatives, outreaches are planned across all 16 regions of Ghana.

Two years of training, then alumni for good.

Members train together for two years and graduate with an official certificate. Alumni stay close, we mentor the next intake, supporting outreach in the regions, and keeping the work going long after the cohort ends.

  1. Apply

A short seven-step form, open for each cohort.

  2. Review

We read every answer and check details with regional representatives.

  3. If applicable

    Interview

Some cohorts include a short conversation. We will tell you if yours does.

  4. Admission

Accepted members receive a welcome email with next steps.

  5. Cohort

Two years of Saturday training and community outreach.

  6. Graduation

An official certificate for every member who completes the cohort.

  7. Alumni
